WHIDBEYHEALTH LAUNCHES NEW ‘TEAMBIRTH’ INITIATIVE AT FAMILY BIRTHPLACE
The Whidbey Island Public Hospital District (WhidbeyHealth) has joined the TEAMBirth initiative to improve outcomes for birthing people and their babies. WhidbeyHealth Labor & Delivery Unit (Family Birthplace) will join the collaboration between the Washington State Hospital Association and Ariadne Labs, with funding from the Ballmer Group for the state-wide initiative to improve the childbirth experience.
TEAMBirth supports open communication between patients, their support people and clinicians during birth. Through structured huddles and a shared planning board, TEAMBirth empowers WhidbeyHealth patients, physicians, midwives and nurses to reach decisions together – resulting in more dignified and respectful care that gives patients the role that they want.
“Our team is very excited to begin incorporating TEAMBirth into the care we offer our patients,” commented Tabitha Sierra, Family Birthplace Manager. “We strive to have every birth journey honor the goals of the mother and family, while also facilitating a joyful memory of this priceless experience.”
