Island County Commissioner Janet St. Clair (D-Camano Island) posted this to his Facebook page on .
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program helps producers make conservation work for them. Participants implement best management practices and the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service provides agricultural producers and non-industrial forest managers with financial resources and one-on-one help to plan and implement improvements.
Using these practices can lead to cleaner water and air, healthier soil, and better wildlife habitat, all while improving agricultural operations. These techniques can include: improving irrigation efficiency, restoring pasture, installing season extension high tunnels, improving nutrient management, and much more!
The application deadline for 2025 funding is Oct. 22nd!
You can submit your paperwork year round, but each fall the state office reviews and ranks EQIP applications after the deadline. This year, the majority of paperwork (to get established with the Farm Service Agency) isn’t due until Jan. 17, 2025!
