Janet St. Clair (D-Camano Island), candidate for State Senator, 10th Legislative District

Janet St. Clair (D-Camano Island), candidate for State Senator, 10th Legislative District, posted this on her Facebook page on .

Today I called Senator Muzzall to concede the race and offer my congratulations. The 10th Legislative District remains the most competitive district in the state, and it was an honor to receive support from so many people across the region. I am proud of the campaign we ran and proud of our district for being so deliberate and thoughtful with who they send to Olympia. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard on our campaign.

With that all being said, this election in Washington state was a notice to Senator Muzzall and his colleagues in the legislature who might think about blocking access to abortion and other essential reproductive healthcare. With the changing federal administration, it is important now more than ever that Washington stands strong against upcoming national attacks on reproductive freedom. The voters in the 10th and statewide have been very clear: if you vote against women’s healthcare freedoms, there will be consequences. Along with voters across the state, I will be watching closely when the legislature returns in January and these important issues may be brought before them.

Sincerely,

Janet St. Clair
