Statement: Are you frustrated with our government? Trust in government is a top concern of people today. Island County is no exception. This is one reason I’m running for commissioner. My family and I have lived here for 25+ years. With taxes skyrocketing, quality of life worsening, increased homelessness, a troubled hospital, lack of affordable housing, and a government without answers.

I will work on real solutions. I have a track record of meeting challenges head-on. I have taken homeless into my own home and understand the importance of equipping rather than enabling. This council says they’re compassionate but their strategies are big government ideas with no expectation of improvement, often put into place without public input.

When elected, voters will know I’m working for them. We will keep what works, and fix or eliminate what doesn’t, because I am concerned that our government puts too many resources into efforts that do not improve our community or make it safer. There must be better stewardship of our tax dollars!

There are many issues needing our attention. I’m committed to earning your trust, implementing effective solutions, and striving to preserve the natural beauty of our precious islands.

I ask for your vote

I served on the Board of Stanwood Camano Community Resource Center and am currently Council President for Camano Lutheran. As County Commissioner, I serve on numerous boards including Island Transit and NWCAA.

As Commissioner, I delivered on our most pressing priorities. I brought broadband investments to Island County, protected access to healthcare including COVID response on both islands and advocacy for WhidbeyHealth. I led efforts to address climate change, improve forest practices and tackle infrastructure challenges and housing. During the pandemic, the balance between our economic resiliency and public
health safety remained paramount. I work hard, listen deeply and roll up my sleeves to get to work for the people of Island County. I respond to emails and phone calls and hold monthly town halls. I commit to always having public service being about people, not politics.

Endorsed by Representative Rick Larsen, USAF General Patricia Rose, Former Island County Commissioners John Dean and Helen Price Johnson, Skagit Commissioners Ron Wesen and Lisa Janicki,
