WHIDBEY NEWS-TIMES: Hospital finances in critical condition
Kira Erickson reports in the Whidbey News-Times that the Public Hospital District has run out of cash. During the Feb. 10 board meeting, WhidbeyHealth CEO Ron Telles told the hospital’s board of directors, “We are in a cash-poor situation,” and that he was pausing all capital projects. Director of Finance Jennifer Reed reported that the cash reserves had decreased $3.5 million since the beginning of 2020.
Commissioner Kurt Blankenship’s position on the board will be on the ballot in this year’s elections.
