Tying into the controversy surrounding the Oak Harbor City Councils vote of no-confidence in City Administrator Blaine Oborn and Mayor Bob Severns subsequent defense of Oborn, the mayor asked city employees for anonymous comments. In the results, there were shots taken at both sides of the issue.

The comments covered many areas, but about 20% of the comments were from employees who feared retaliation and expressed a lack of trust and confidentiality. The majority of the 47 employees pointed at the city’s Administrators as being the cause of their concerns. Several city councilmembers were also cast in a negative light as being “rude or meddlesome.”

In the article by Jessie Stensland, there are comments about this issue by Mayor Severns and several of the Councilmembers as they respond and/or defend their positions.
