Whidbey Weekly Election edition,10/24/2024:

Carrie R. Kennedy
Prefers Republican Party

Why are you seeking election/reelection?
In 2022, when Clyde Shavers (D), running against in
cumbent Rep. Greg Gilday (R) won by 211 votes, I knew
I would be running for this ‘24 election against Shavers.
During the ‘22 election week when ballots dropped, Shavers’ own father outed him for telling multiple lies during his campaign, lying about his military service (Stolen Valor). Shavers was later placed on the Veterans Committee by the Democrats. As the wife and daughter of two US Navy service members, there’s absolutely no excuse for a veteran to lie about their military service, especially for political gain! As a member of the Whidbey Island community since 1987, moving here due to the military and then retiring here, (another falsehood Shavers told where he actually lived), I believe LD-10 deserves an individual who will fulfill this legislative position representing the citizens with truthfulness, honor and integrity living in this great community!

What qualifies you for this position?
I have never held a political position when I entered the political arena in 2020 and 2022 filing to run for US Congress, CD-2. My love of Country, representing America as a Navy wife and daughter overseas and stateside was an honor. I believe our political
leaders and those serving us should be held to a higher standard of honesty and truthfulness representing and working for the people who elected us as well as those who did not. The many challenges I’ve faced and endured in my life as well as my work ethic and foresight, I will be a defender of our Constitutions and uphold my oath of office with integrity and honor.

How have you served your community, either through organizations or other contributions?
I’ve been involved with school districts, our Navy communities, jobs and active in politics as well as an elected PCO since 2020.

What do you believe is the biggest issue facing Whidbey Island?
Alternative Question: What do you believe is the biggest issue facing Puget Sound?
In my personal opinion, the biggest issue facing our community and state is the sanctuary state, city statuses we’ve lived under which I’d like to see ended immediately. The biggest issue of Whidbey Island and Puget Sound need to be brought to the legislators from the people; we are the constituents’ voices, and I want to know what is important to them. People tell me their concerns; less taxes, a better economy, safe communities, better education for their children, affordable housing, reduced medical cost, etc. What I believe are the biggest issues are really irrelevant; I’m elected and work for the people of this district and State and want their issues to be brought front and center for me to address in Olympia.

How do you plan to address the issue from Question 4 in your role?
All issues require commonsense, partnerships with others for resolutions, accountability and changes when required. Putting American workers and citizens first, always. As a problem solver and fore thinker, it is imperative to ensure there are not frivolous issues and monies being spent on issues which only support a few or putting unfair burdens on taxpayers, businesses or companies. One thing I’d like to see is the end of more Bills being written without accountability of the Bills already on the books!

What do you hope to accomplish during your term?
To be a Voice for the constituents of LD-10 who I believe have felt they have little to no representation. I want to bring back what is happening in Olympia to the constituents as well as take their concerns and issues they want voiced and addressed. I will work for the citizens, community which elected me, not the other way around as we have seen for far too long in government and with our elected officials! The position I’ll hold is to be the voice for what the peoples’ needs are, not what the government, Olympia tells them they need. I’d like our young people, as well as all citizens, to have an opportunity to experience productive and fair government representation so they may prosper and want to stay, work and live their lives in our great State.

Why should voters choose you?
I’ll represent all constituents upholding our US and WA State Constitutions to the best of my ability defending our rights and freedoms with honesty, truth and commonsense. I’ve been attacked for my conservative values, beliefs, opinions, posts/memes and never allowed to defend myself. I’ve NEVER been a member of the Oath Keepers nor a transphobe; I support females in female sports only. Not anti-Semitic; my mother’s childhood best friend was Jewish, my friend’s daughter is an IDF Capt and Netanyahu got me thru difficult times during DesertShield when my husband was deployed in the Gulf. Attending events, meeting people is what I do, and I shouldn’t be vilified. As a legal US citizen, I did not give up my freedoms, rights when I decided to run for public office. I’d appreciate your support/vote, an honor and privilege to be your representative for you and your families. Thank you
