You’re invited: 10th District community town hall on Saturday, Feb. 21
State Senator Ron Muzzall (R-Oak Harbor) posted this to the news section of his legislative website on 2026-02-13 15:14:30

We’ve been putting in some long days on the Senate floor, voting our way through stacks of bills. Once we move past those early committee hearings, session shifts into high gear — and that’s when you find out which ideas have the legs to keep moving and which ones run out of steam.
As I mentioned in my previous update, we’ve already met some important deadlines, and another big one is right around the corner. February 17 is House of Origin Cutoff, with a 5 p.m. deadline to consider bills in the chamber where they were introduced. After that, the work shifts across the rotunda: Senate bills head to the House for further review, and House bills make their way to us for a closer look.
With session now more than halfway over and the house-of-origin deadline behind us, it’s a good time to step back and talk about where things stand — which proposals are moving forward, which ones didn’t make it, and what we can expect in the weeks ahead.
That’s why I hope you’ll join us for a 10th Legislative District Community Town Hall:
Saturday, Feb. 21, 11:00 a.m.
The Center 51 SE Jerome Street Oak Harbor, WA 98277
I’m glad to continue hosting bipartisan town halls, and I’m proud to cohost this one with my seatmate, Rep. Dave Paul. Dave is a Democrat from Oak Harbor, and while we don’t always see eye to eye on every issue, we both care deeply about the 10th Legislative District.
When it comes to improving our district and meeting local objectives, we work together whenever we can — whether that means supporting our schools, strengthening our economy, or making sure state decisions reflect the realities of Island, Skagit, and Snohomish counties.
Town halls are one of my favorite parts of this job. There’s no substitute for sitting down face-to-face, answering your questions, and hearing what’s on your mind. We’re also grateful that Oak Harbor Mayor Pro Tem Tara Hizon will serve as our moderator, guiding the conversation and ensuring we cover the issues that matter most.
This is your government. The decisions being made in Olympia affect your family, your business, and your community, and you deserve a chance to weigh in.
We’ll begin with a brief update on what’s happening in the Legislature, then open the floor for your questions and comments. You’re also welcome to submit a question in advance. If you have any questions about the event or about any other legislative issue, please don’t hesitate to contact my office.
I hope you’ll consider taking an hour out of your Saturday morning to join us. I look forward to seeing you there and continuing the conversation.
Yours in service,
Senator Ron Muzzall
10th Legislative District
