WHIDBEY NEWS-TIMES: Coupeville Town Council gives arts and crafts festival green light

According to Karina Andrew’s story in the Whidbey News-Times, the Coupeville Town Council has approved, in a 4-1 vote, a conditional special event permit for the Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival for this August. There are certain conditions attached concerning spacing of artists but there will be at least 5 food vendors who have already confirmed for the festival.

The only opposing vote came from Councilmember Pat Powell who cited her concerns about a possible resurgence of the Covid-19 flu and complaints about the festival by some local business owners. “I apologize to those that are so incredible with the arts and crafts festival,” Powell said, “but I just can’t make this work in my mind.”

On the Ballot in November 2021 – Coupeville Town Councilmembers:

  • Position 4 – Incumbent Mike Moore is running unopposed
  • Position 5 – Incumbent Patricia Powell is running unopposed
  • June 11, 2021
