Introducing Port of Coupeville’s New Commissioner – John Callahan
The Port of Coupeville is pleased to announce the appointment of our new commissioner, John Callahan! John joins the commission after the departure of commissioner Kennedy.
John joins the Port after 27 years of distinguished service in the Commissioned Officer Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). His experience includes progressively responsible engineering, executive, administrative and legal positions, as well as Command of three vessels. After retirement from NOAA, he worked for 18 years as a consultant/instructor of Government Contract and Appropriations Law, teaching courses to over 17 government agencies nationwide. He retired from teaching in 2019 and remains active in a number of non-profit and community services. He and his spouse reside in Ledgewood Beach Coupeville, WA.
Port commissioners accept responsibility to oversee the Port’s local maritime and farm heritage. They caretake the health and future of the Port’s historic properties: Greenbank Farm and the Coupeville Wharf. Port of Coupeville commissioners also contribute to the economic vitality and growth within the communities we serve.
